History of the medical practice:
Dr. Sherwood Barefoot founded Greensboro Dermatology Associates (GDA) in 1947. As the demand for dermatologists increased, new physicians were added. Dr. Hugh Fraser in 1964, Dr. Frank M. Houston in 1970, and Dr. W. Harrison Turner, III in 1976. Dr. Laura Lomax joined the practice in 1989, Dr. Daniel B. Jones in 1993, Dr. Drew A. Jones in 1996, Dr. Amy Y. Jordan in 2002, Dr. Robert G. Goodrich in 2006, Dr. Susan E. Stinehelfer in 2009, Dr. Walter R. Whitworth in 2014, and Dr. Jolene R. Jewell in 2020. Dr. Barefoot retired in 1982, Dr. Fraser retired in 1994, Dr. W. Harrison Turner, III retired in 2012, Dr. Frank Houston retired in 2014, and Dr. Laura Lomax retired in 2023.
Greensboro Dermatology Associates’ mission is to provide excellent dermatologic care to every patient in a caring and compassionate environment. Today, there are 7 practicing board-certified dermatologists at Greensboro Dermatology Associates.

Daniel B. Jones, MD
Dr. Daniel B. Jones is a native of Pittsburgh, PA. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. He completed a medical internship at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and his dermatology residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Jones’ interests include general medical dermatology, pediatric dermatology, and surgical dermatology.

Drew A. Jones, MD
Dr. Drew A. Jones is a native of Asheboro, NC. He received his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his medical degree from the University of North Carolina. He completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of Iowa and his dermatology residency at the University of North Carolina. Dr. Jones’ interests include general medical dermatology, pediatric dermatology, and surgical dermatology.

Amy Young Jordan, MD, MBA
Dr. Amy Young Jordan is a native of Greensboro, NC. She received her undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University. She received a joint MD/MBA degree from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine and the Babcock Graduate School of Management. She completed an internship in internal medicine at Boston Medical Center and a dermatology residency at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Dr. Jordan’s interests include general medical dermatology, pediatric dermatology, surgical dermatology, and cosmetic dermatology.

Robert G. Goodrich, MD
Dr. Robert G. Goodrich is a native of Charlotte, NC. He received an undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University and his medical degree from the University of North Carolina. He completed an internship in internal medicine and dermatology residency at the University of North Carolina. He completed fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery at Coliseum Medical Center, Dermatologic Surgery Specialists in Macon, GA. Dr. Goodrich’s interests include surgical dermatology and Mohs surgery.

Dr. Susan E. Stinehelfer is a native of Burlington, NC. She received both her undergraduate and medical degree from the University of North Carolina. She completed an internship in internal medicine and dermatology residency at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Stinehelfer’s interests include general medical dermatology, pediatric dermatology, surgical dermatology, and cosmetic dermatology.
