Chemical Peels

Chemical peeling of the skin is a commonly used technique to improve the overall appearance of the skin. In this procedure, a chemical solution is applied to the skin which results in superficial exfoliation and the stimulation of the skin's self-renewing mechanisms. This type of treatment is most effective in treating sun-damaged skin, "age spots", texture, and hyperpigmentation. There are a number of types and strengths of acid which can be used in the peel procedure and the treatment is typically tailored to the specific needs and skin type of the client. Our esthetician can design a peel strategy to fit your needs.

Microderminfusion

Microderminfusion is a procedure in which diamond chips are used to physically exfoliate dead, unwanted skin from the surface. This helps to promote the growth of healthy, new skin cells. This crystal free device helps to leave the skin with a smoother, softer, more radiant appearance. After exfoliation, your skin is then ready for infusion. Customized by our esthetician to target your specific needs, there are 4 different serum types- Hydrating, Brightening, Blemish fighting, or Vitamin C. Your skin will benefit from deeper product penetration, hydration, and nourishment. This treatment is non-invasive and will improve unwanted signs of aging, such as, fine lines, wrinkles, loss of elasticity, and sagging.

Botox Cosmetic is a prescription medication that is injected into facial muscles to reduce or eliminate wrinkles. Botox is botulinum toxin which blocks nerve impulses to injected muscles. The injected muscles are not able to contract and therefore the wrinkle is not produced. Botox provides a temporary reduction in wrinkles, typically lasting 3 months. Injecting Botox is a simple, in-office, nonsurgical procedure with no recovery time. At Greensboro Dermatology Associates, Botox is administered by a physician.

Fillers are products that are injected directly under the skin to restore volume and fullness. Fillers comprised of hyaluronic acid are currently the most popular class of injectables. These products are smooth gels that are injected into lines on the lower face primarily around the mouth, lips, cheek, and chin areas. Effects from fillers typically last 9-12months. Injecting fillers is an in-office, nonsurgical procedure that may require a short recovery time due to possible bruising and swelling. At Greensboro Dermatology Associates, fillers are administered by a physician.

Spider veins are small purple or red superficial blood vessels on the legs. These vessels can be a cosmetic concern but do not indicate any serious vascular abnormality. Spider veins are most effectively treated through a procedure called sclerotherapy. Sclerotherapy is a technique which involves injecting a sclerosing solution into a spider vein. A small needle is used to inject the solution directly into the spider vein, causing the vein to collapse and disappear. Sclerotherapy may need to be performed more than once to achieve optimal cosmetic results. Sclerotherapy is a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by insurance.

Greensboro Dermatology is proud to offer Rejuvapen Micro-Needling. Micro-Needling is a process whereby the skin is perforated superficially with small needles; this local injury stimulates the skin's renewing mechanisms and therefore increases collagen and elastin production. Rejuvapen can be used for fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars and is performed in our office by our esthetician. The procedure is noninvasive and has a minimal downtime. Please ask an associate for more details to schedule your appointment for Rejuvapen.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a type of physical exfoliation using a scalpel to shave the superficial layers of dead skin cells from the skin surface. This treatment is not invasive and requires little to no downtime. While we do not consider this treatment to be hair removal, it does remove vellus hair from the face. You will see improvements in vitality, texture, and brightness of the skin immediately after. It is best done every 4 weeks to keep the skin looking healthy.
